We’ve got a favor to ask you on this Giving Tuesday. It would mean a lot to us if you would consider becoming a recurring donor to Healwell for $10/month.

Michael Reynolds Hey, everyone. Welcome to a special off-schedule episode of the Massage Business Blueprint. I’m Michael Reynolds.

MR And we would like to ask you something special today, something specific we’d like you to do for us this month if you could. Allissa and I would both like to ask you to join us in actively supporting Healwell during this upcoming Giving Tuesday, which this year is December 3rd.

We’re going to tell you a little bit about Healwell, and then we have a very specific action you can take that will mean a lot to us and will make a big difference.

So Healwell is a nonprofit with a mission to improve the quality of life for people affected by acute, chronic, and serious illness through massage therapy education and research.

AH By the end of 2019, Healwell will have provided massage for over 5,000 people living with acute, chronic, and serious illness. Healwell turns ten next year, and by this time next year they will have trained over 500 massage therapists, social workers, nurses, and other allied health professionals in oncology massage, ethical communication, presence, boundaries, resiliency, and hospital-based massage and other topics that build clinical skills beyond techniques. There isn’t anyone doing the stuff that Healwell is doing to bring massage into healthcare.

MR Yeah, one of the reasons we love Healwell is they are leading the way in defining advanced practice. So not only with the trainings they offer, but with clinical programs they create. So one example is they have courses that bring together PTs, OTs, psychotherapists, social workers, nurses, others to learn and share together in the same classroom with massage therapists.

AH Healwell just concluded the largest ever palliative care massage therapy dosing study. The study happened with critically ill patients in the hospital, but the results are applicable and showing us valuable things about the way people experience massage therapy overall.

MR Also Healwell is working to conduct research that will help us start to understand how to get massage therapy to the people who need it most. And here’s what I love especially. Healwell is working to take massage therapy from a service that wealthy people use to kind of pamper themselves with to a highly valued healthcare intervention and making it accessible by people living in the lowest socioeconomic circumstance and those living with chronic illness, so people that really need it the most.

So what we’d like to ask you to do and what we need from you is this. We would really love it if you would become a recurring donor at $10 a month to Healwell. $10 a month is not a lot for most of us. It’s very reasonable, something we can do. A lot of times we feel like we can’t afford to donate or we don’t know what to do. So we’re going to give you something very specific. We would love for you to become a recurring monthly donor to Healwell simply at $10 a month. If enough of our listeners do this, it can make a huge difference for Healwell.
